By Pastor Scott
The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
(Proverbs 16:1 NKJV)
This verse can be further enhanced by taking in what verses 3 and 9 have to say:
Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.
(Proverbs 16:3 NKJV)
A man's heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.
(Proverbs 16:9 NKJV)
Consider these verses in light of man’s responsibility and God’s sovereignty.
I have found them all very encouraging in my life, knowing I have a responsibility to diligently study the Word, seek God and exercise step out in faith, but at the end of the day, God is the one who ultimately directs my paths for His greatest glory, and my greatest good, knowing that “All things work together for good to those who love God.”
Most of these Proverbs need no explanation. They speak for themselves. I would therefore like to encourage you to meditate on these verses today and consider their meaning in your life.
